JOB TITLE:  Junior Designer (Hybrid)

SUPERVISOR: Lead Designer

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Exempt 

SALARY RANGE: $65K-$75K Annually

DESCRIPTION: In the Jr. Designer role, you will support the design team in creating functionally beautiful spaces for residential and commercial clients while using industry knowledge, organization, design experience, and creativity, all while keeping within the Amber Interiors aesthetic.

This position reports to the Calabasas office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support to the Project Designer, Sr. Project Designer, and Lead Designer during all phases of completion and execution of design concepts and projects.
  • Maintain organized schedules & spec sheets, project binders, project samples, and material bins.
  • Work with the team to maintain all project purchase orders and invoices.
  • Manage your team’s work in Studio Designer
  • Work on projects from all phases of design, from concept and schematic design through installment, including but not limited to furniture schedules, vendor management and communication, sourcing, project management, site, and showroom visits, management of project samples, and various administrative tasks that keep a project organized. sample library, and project installations.
  • Assist in the setup of client presentations and creation of presentation boards to include mood
    boards, FF&E, materials, color palettes, and lighting.
  • Be present to assist in onsite meetings with clients, construction team, and subs as necessary by
    reviewing project progress and schedule, and recording notable updates during meetings.
  • Assist with sample pick-ups from vendors, visits to the warehouse, progress visits with vendors, and other miscellaneous tasks outside of the office.
  • Manage several tasks on multiple projects at once.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of Interior Design Experience from design-specific firms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and InDesign; knowledge of Studio Webware and NetSuite is a plus.
  • Detailed knowledge of finishes, materials, and standard specifications and terminology for design-related items. Practical knowledge of design styles and eras.
  • Desire to grow with a go-getter mentality
  • Knowledge and experience on construction sites are a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team. Ability to delegate tasks to self and others.
  • Strong communication skills, including being able to lead in-person and/or conference call
    meetings, and write thorough and organized emails for vendors, clients, and teams.
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented with schedules, emails, communication, measurements, drawings, and presentations.
  • Confident in design decisions and project management skills; ability to anticipate team and
    projects need to remain a few steps ahead.
  • Reliable car and willing to travel.
  • Ability to physically work on tasks including shopping, hauling samples, installation days and
    weeks which includes moving items, making beds, cleaning, and packing.
  • Familiarity with design vendors, including furniture, fabric, lighting, tile/plumbing, rugs, etc.

SALARY RANGE: $75K-$85K

DESCRIPTIONWe are looking for a highly experienced Interior Designer who can support the design team in creating functionally beautiful spaces for residential and commercial clients while using industry knowledge, design experience, innovative design concepts, and creativity, all while keeping within the Amber Interiors aesthetic.

This position reports to the Calabasas office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide creative and technical support to the Sr. Project Designer and Lead Designers. 
  • Create construction documents and provide valuable feedback on them. 
  • Manage the team’s technical drawings and mood boards. 
  • Work on projects from all design phases through installment, including but not limited to CAD drawings, model creation/rendering, sourcing, project management, site visits, and project installations.
  • Create strong relationships with vendors, clients, and teams with the ability to write thorough, cohesive emails to vendors, clients, and teams. 
  • Create and present presentation boards to include CAD drawings, mood boards, FF&E, surface materials, color palettes, and lighting.
  • Ability to review, and approve construction documents, including conceptual space plans, furniture plans, RCP plans, demo plans, and cabinetry shop drawings, and assess the documents for final approval and/or modifications.
  • Attend and be able to lead onsite meetings with clients, construction teams, and subs by reviewing project progress and schedule, answering construction-based questions, and keeping clients aware of updates, changes, and approvals throughout the project timeline.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are in line with our standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of Interior Design Experience from design-specific firms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD with the ability to read and interpret plans and construction documents.
  • Skilled in SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of Studio Webware is a plus.
  • Detailed knowledge of finishes, materials, standard specifications, and terminology for design-related items. Practical knowledge of design styles and eras. 
  • Must have knowledge and experience in construction sites. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team. Ability to delegate tasks to self and others. 
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with schedules, emails, communication, drawings, and presentations. 
  • Confident in design decisions and project management skills. 
  • Must have a reliable car and be willing to travel.
  • Able to haul samples and assist with installation days/weeks, including moving items, making beds, cleaning, and packing. 
  • Familiar with design vendors, including furniture, fabric, lighting, tile/plumbing, rugs..etc.
